Atkins Public Library News

Atkins Library now has an online card catalog. Check out

The Atkins Library has received several large monetary donations from area citizens. We are currently in the process of acquiring new shelving for the young adult and adult fiction areas and this winter a new book case will be added to the children’s area and hopefully the junior fiction area. Our fast growing community has allowed us to expand our collections to meet the needs of our citizens. These donations will help offset the cost of these new shelving units. Thank you for your continued support!

October Book Club book is “All The Summer Girls” by Meg Donahue. The Book Club meets on the second Monday, October 14th, at 2 pm in the Atkins Library.

The Atkins Library website is being changed. It will be implemented in late September or early October. The Iowa State Library controls the current website and is changing to a new format to make it more user friendly not only for patrons but for the librarians that input information. Accessing the website will be the same.

“Steam To Go” kits have arrived. These kits are designed to expand children’s exploration of advanced learning at their grade level. These kits contain a book, and other items such as a game, flash cards, and building components. We encourage parents along with their children to come in and explore these kits. At this time the kits are not available for check out.

The number of letters sent for book fines have dropped considerable since implementation. With your help we have updated patron accounts so that everyone is receiving either an email or text 2 days prior to due date of items. If you are not receiving either an email or text please contact the Atkins Library at 319-446-7676 to update your account.
